TUTORIAL 1 - TAGS
All images and papers are from
Passion for Fashion CD 4
This tag card made by Ann uses a pre-cut ready to use card and tags by the company Kanban. However, as you can see in the pictures below it would be quite easy to create your own version using A4 card from your stash.
This picture shows the beginning of the card. If using a sheet of A4 card you need to score fold lines along the
centre of the card in both directions.
Having done this, with the card in the portrait position and using the score line as a guide, cut a slit from one edge to the centre of the card. Using a craft knife and cutting a line either side of the score line will create a small gap which enables the finished card to lie flatter.
As my card was white on the inside I covered it with gold paper to form a background. It was quite tricky to do this without getting creases in the paper when folding the flaps up and folding the card. I would suggest that double sided card would be easier to work with and would cut out the need for this step.
After covering with gold paper, backing paper to match the images chosen for your tags can be matted on to the gold background paper. All the images and backing paper used for these cards are from the CD 'Passion for Fashion'.
The flaps are then folded up and fastened into position remembering to leave the diagonal side open for the tag to be slotted in.
Hot tip - a little bit of Double Sided Tape in the outer corner reduces the size of the opening and stops the tag sliding in too far. At this stage the outside of the flap can be decorated.
The next stage is the real fun part - creating your tags and slotting them into position.
As the tags are removable a greetings and message can be placed on the reverse.
Lastly, embellish the front of the card to match
the theme inside.
Using two of these cards fastened together would lead to the opportunity to have four flaps and tags which would lend itself very well to having a theme of seasons and perhaps flower tags to go with each seaon.
